Let’s Explore the Memory of the World with Tia, Jik and PokPok

     To introduce young children to the value of documentary heritage and stimulate their interest in diverse histories and cultures, UNESCO has prepared this book under the Memory of the World Programme targeting at first the primary school level. The book introduces the Memory of the World Programme in Asia and the Pacific through a colourful narrative of written and illustrated descriptions as well as carefully compiled information and photographs about inscribed items from different countries. This account includes a visually rich sequence of collections from the Asia-Pacific region, but also some of the most popular international inscriptions. The three characters depicted in the narrative make discoveries and gradually collect their stories as part of their exploration driven by a quest for wisdom, knowledge and peace.

    เพื่อที่จะแนะนำเด็ก ๆ ให้รู้จักกับมรดกเอกสารและกระตุ้นความสนใจในประวัติศาสตร์และวัฒนธรรมที่หลากหลาย ยูเนสโกได้จัดทำหนังสือเล่มนี้ภายใต้โครงการมรดกความทรงจำแห่งโลกโดยมีกลุ่มเป้าหมายแรกคือเด็กในระดับประถมศึกษา หนังสือเล่มนี้แนะนำโครงการมรดกความทรงจำแห่งโลกในเอเชีย-แปซิฟิกผ่านการเล่าเรื่องราวเป็นลายลักษณ์อักษรและภาพวาดประกอบอย่างสนุกสนาน พร้อมทั้งข้อมูลและภาพถ่ายของวัตถุที่มีการจารึกจากประเทศต่าง ๆ ซึ่งได้มีการรวบรวมไว้เป็นชุดเอกสารจากภูมิภาคเอเชีย-แปซิฟิก รวมถึงจารึกต่าง ๆ ซึ่งเป็นที่รู้จักกันดีในระดับนานาชาติ โดยมีตัวละคร 3 ตัวดำเนินเรื่องด้วยการปฏิบัติภารกิจเพื่อแสวงหาภูมิปัญญา ความรู้ และสันติภาพ ซึ่งทำให้พวกเขาได้ค้นพบสิ่งที่น่าสนใจและค่อย ๆ รวบรวมเรื่องราวมากมายที่ได้พบเจอระหว่างทาง

     The book also highlights important themes embedded in documentary heritage such as languages, religions, geography, gender equality, cross-cultural understanding and human rights among others. The last section includes creative exercises to encourage young readers to help in archiving and collecting documentary heritage, and explain the selection, preservation and access processes to the collections and archives.

     และที่มากว่านั้น หนังสือเล่มนี้ยังแสดงให้เห็นประเด็นสำคัญในมรดกเอกสาร อาทิ ภาษา ศาสนา ลักษณะทางภูมิศาสตร์ ความเท่าเทียมทางเพศ ความเข้าใจข้ามวัฒนธรรม และสิทธิมนุษยชน ส่วนท้ายของหนังสือจะมีกิจกรรมสร้างสรรค์ที่ส่งเสริมให้ผู้อ่านรุ่นเยาว์มีส่วนช่วยในการรวบรวมมรดกเอกสาร และอธิบายเพิ่มเติมเกี่ยวกับการเลือกสรร การเก็บรักษา และขั้นตอนในการเข้าถึงคลังหรือชุดเอกสารที่ได้รับการรวบรวมไว้
