          ที่ประชุมคณะกรรมการมรดกโลกสมัยที่ 44 ณ เมืองฝูโจว (Fuzhou) สาธารณรัฐประชาชนจีน เมื่อวันที่ 16 – 31 กรกฎาคม 2564 ได้ประกาศขึ้นทะเบียนพื้นที่กลุ่มป่าแก่งกระจานเป็นมรดกโลกทางธรรมชาติแหล่งที่ 3 ของประเทศไทย หลังจากที่ได้ขึ้นทะเบียนเขตรักษาพันธุ์สัตว์ป่าทุ่งใหญ่-ห้วยขาแข้ง เมื่อปี 2534 และผืนป่าดงพญาเย็น-เขาใหญ่ เมื่อปี 2548 ทำให้ขณะนี้ประเทศไทยมีแหล่งมรดกโลกทั้งสิ้น 6 แหล่ง เป็นพื้นที่ทางวัฒนธรรม 3 แหล่ง และทางธรรมชาติ 3 แหล่ง
การประชุมคณะกรรมการมรดกโลกครั้งนี้ได้ประกาศขึ้นทะเบียนมรดกโลกแห่งใหม่ ของปี 2563 และ 2564 ทั้งหมด 33 แหล่ง เป็นมรดกทางวัฒนธรรม 28 แหล่ง ธรรมชาติ 5 แหล่ง นอกจากนี้ยังมีการขยายพื้นที่จากแห่งเดิมอีก 3 แหล่ง ได้แก่

7. Padua’s fourteenth-century fresco cycles ใน Italy (Criteria: ii)
8. Paseo del Prado and Buen Retiro, a landscape of Arts and Sciences ใน Spain (Criteria: ii, iv, vi)
