The 20-Year History of APCEIU
Learning with Global Citizens toward a Culture of Peace
2000-2020

   In August 2020, APCEIU published the Korean version of the 20-Year History of APCEIU to commemorate its 20th anniversary. This book is the outcome of the efforts to seek APCEIU’s future direction and vision to move forward while recording its history and reflecting on the achievements and limitations of its activities. Based on the Korean version, this English version of the 20-Year History of APCEIU is published to share with more partners around the world.

   ศูนย์การศึกษาเพื่อความเข้าใจอันดีระหว่างประเทศแห่งเอเชียแปซิฟิก (APCEIU) ได้ตีพิมพ์หนังสือ “The 20-Year History of APCEIU” ฉบับภาษาเกาหลีเพื่อเฉลิมฉลองครบรอบ 20 ปีของการดำเนินงานศูนย์ฯ เมื่อเดือนสิงหาคม พ.ศ. 2563 หนังสือเล่มนี้เป็นผลผลิตของความพยายามในการค้นหาทิศทางในอนาคตและวิสัยทัศน์ที่จะก้าวไปข้างหน้าของศูนย์ APCEIU พร้อมกันนั้นก็บันทึกประวัติศาสตร์ รวมถึงสะท้อนความสำเร็จและข้อจำกัดที่พบในการจัดกิจกรรมของศูนย์ฯ ทั้งนี้ เพื่อที่จะถ่ายทอดความรู้และข้อมูลต่าง ๆ ให้แก่หน่วยงานที่เป็นหุ้นส่วนในการดำเนินงานทั่วโลก จึงมีการตีพิมพ์หนังสือฉบับนี้เป็นภาษาอังกฤษ

   Part 1 describes the stories of APCEIU’s birth and growth over the years. Part 2 analyzes the accomplishments and limits of APCEIU activities by four priority areas: 1) capacity building, 2) research and development, 3) publication and information, and 4) exchanges and cooperation. Part 3 contains translated interviews of Dr. Kwon Tai-joon, who oversaw the establishment of APCEIU as Secretary-General of KNCU at the time, and Ms. Irina Bokova, former Director-General of UNESCO, who did not spare her love and support for APCEIU.

   ในส่วนแรกของหนังสือมีเรื่องราวความเป็นมาและการเติบโตของ APCEIU ในหลายปีที่ผ่านมา ส่วนที่ 2 เป็นการวิเคราะห์ผลสัมฤทธิ์และข้อจำกัดของกิจกรรมที่จัดขึ้นโดย APCEIU โดยแบ่งเป็น 4 ส่วนหลัก ได้แก่ 1) การเสริมสร้างขีดความสามารถ 2) การวิจัยและพัฒนา 3) สิ่งพิมพ์และสารสนเทศ และ 4) การแลกเปลี่ยนและความร่วมมือ ส่วนสุดท้ายคือการสัมภาษณ์ Dr. Kwon Tai-joon ซึ่งในขณะนั้นดำรงตำแหน่งเป็นเลขาธิการของ KNCU (สำนักเลขาธิการคณะกรรมการแห่งชาติว่าด้วยการศึกษา วิทยาศาสตร์และวัฒนธรรมแห่งสหประชาชาติ สาธารณรัฐเกาหลี) ซึ่งเป็นผู้รับหน้าที่ดูแลการจัดตั้งศูนย์ APCEIU นอกจากนั้นยังมีบทสัมภาษณ์ Ms. Irina Bokova อดีตผู้อำนวยการใหญ่องค์การ UNESCO ที่รักและสนับสนุนศูนย์ APCEIU มาโดยตลอด
